Some of what a campaign needs
Most campaigns need one main track and the shorter versions around it. Add a jingle or your sonic logo when people should remember the brand after the spot ends.
Original music
A new track for your campaign, composed to your video.
Every length
The main spot and the short online versions, each with its own ending, so no version simply fades out.
Sound design and mix
Effects, atmospheres, and the final mix of music, voice-over, and sound. For Vodafone Germany we made the complete audio of the campaign for FamilyCards, its family phone plan.
Jingles and sonic logos
A sung or instrumental line built around your name. If you already have a sonic logo, we rearrange it to fit the new track.
Beyond the spot
We also record voice-overs, in our own studio or on location, and edit audio for radio and TV. See all our services.
Work for brands you know
Work for and contributions to projects involving these brands.
How a campaign track gets made
Step 1
Brief
Send the brief and the edit, even if the edit isn't final. Tell us where the spot runs and what the music has to do.
Step 2
Direction
Before we compose, we work out what viewers should feel. Then we send demos with reference tracks, so your team can choose a direction before the edit is locked.
Step 3
Composition
We write and produce the track to the cut. When the edit changes, the music changes with it, and minor changes are part of the work.
Step 4
Mix and delivery
We mix the music with the voice-over and the sound design, and deliver every length on the media plan.
Questions about advertising music
Do you handle the full production of the track?
Yes. Our composers write and produce the track. We can also design the sound effects and make the final mix with the voice-over. For a starting price, see cost of music for a commercial.
What makes good background music for a commercial?
Give the voice-over room and keep the mood of the spot. We write the music to your edit, so it rises and drops with the picture. When people should also remember a tune, add a jingle.
How do you make music for commercials?
We start from the brief and the edit. First we work out what viewers should feel, then we send demos with reference tracks, so your team chooses a direction before the edit is locked. Then we write to the video, so the accents in the music land on the scene changes and the voice-over has room.
Why hire a composer for your commercial music?
A composer writes the music for your edit and your brand, so it leaves room for the voice-over and your sonic logo. Our composers and producers write it, with musicians from our network when it needs live instruments.
How do you create a jingle?
We start with the one line people should remember, usually your brand name or your message. We write a few melodies for it, you pick one, and we produce it sung or instrumental in every length the campaign needs. If you already have a sonic logo, the jingle can grow from it.
How do agencies choose music for ads?
They start from the brief and the edit and compare directions before the edit is locked. That's how we work with agencies like DEPT, Studio Dumbar, and AddiktSchbang: demos early, the final track written to the cut, and every length on the media plan. Read how we work with agencies, or send us your brief and the edit.
