Sound design for devices
Sound design for devices covers the sounds of payment terminals, kiosks, household appliances, and other machines people use without looking at them closely. We design each sound to say one clear thing and to fit the brand of the maker.

Some devices we design sound for
Payment terminals
At the checkout, a sound tells you the payment went through. Visa plays a short sound with an animation and a vibration after a payment.
Kiosks and machines in public places
A ticket machine or a self-service kiosk stands in noisy places. Its sounds have to stand out from the room and still be pleasant.
Household appliances
A washing machine or a coffee machine signals it's done every day in someone's kitchen, so the sound has to be one people don't tire of.
Something else
Request a proposal with what your device does and where it's used.

What we often design device sounds for
People who can't see the screen
The start-up sound of Windows 11 plays when the lock screen appears, so blind users hear that the computer is ready. Microsoft also tested its system sounds with people who are hard of hearing.
One meaning per sound
Each sound says one thing, such as done or try again, even when the screen is out of sight.
Products and apps
Beyond devices, we design sounds for whole product lines (product sound design) and for apps (app and product sound). If something else should make a sound, ask us.
