- What we made
- Voice-over recording, music, and sound effects
- Where it ran
- Internal, for staff worldwide
- Voice-over
- One of the company's executive vice presidents at the time
The brief
An internal video for all Tommy Hilfiger staff worldwide, with a voice-over by one of the company’s executive vice presidents at the time. The music had to be energetic and upbeat, with an open feel, so everyone watching felt part of one company. Electronic, but not club music: a breakbeat feel, a rhythm built on loose, broken drum patterns, without much percussion.
What we did
We recorded the voice-over and then added the music and sound effects. The track is mostly synthesizers, with a strong bass and bright sounds on top. The hard part was the balance: the music had to carry the energy without ever covering the voice.
The detail
The pad under the voice, the soft synth layer that holds the chords. We ran it through a vocoder, an effect that lets an instrument follow a voice, so it moves very quietly along with every word.
