The brief
Peckham BMX is a short documentary about a BMX club in Peckham, London, and what it does for the young people around it. It’s an honest, personal portrait of the people behind the club. The music had to carry the energy and drive of the riding.
What we did
The makers of the documentary chose an existing drum and bass track that one of our producers made with Black Sun Empire, under the artist name Nymfo. Its breakbeats (fast, chopped-up drum patterns) and deep bass match the speed of the riding and the streets of Peckham. In the documentary, the track carries the images and the story.
Listen for
The track was never written for a documentary. It started as a club track and only later became the soundtrack to a story about a BMX club in London.
